Personality types - which are you?
There are 4 in the Hippocrates basic personality types. I didn't used to like these, but I am coming around. they also help us to understand other people, and I like that. anyway here they are
Sanguine – lively, energetic, people who love to talk to anyone anytime. They make friends wherever they go. They lead meetings, motivate people and are great in front of people cos of their energy and enthusiasm for life. Often they’re not that organized and forget things often. they start lots of projects but often have problems finishing.
Melancholy – the deep thinkers of the world. They are often creative and artistic as well as organized, neat and tidy. They finish everything they start and are very faithful friends. These people can be negative finding faults in things that others missed. They love perfection.
Choleric – the leaders of the group with goals for everything in life. These people have opinions and are not afraid to share them, or tell you what yours is. They are energetic and often have a foot in many camps trying to accomplish lots of tasks at once, doing whatever it takes. They are confident in themselves, so great in front of people. They do have fault in sometimes instead of leading have a tendency to drive people and can leave the fun out of what they’re doing.
Phlegmatic – easygoing, relaxed, peaceful and generally agreeable people. They become whatever the situation they’re in asks for. It can take them a while to make up their minds. They like to go along with the crowed and dislike trying new things.

hmmm, I've never liked putting things in boxes like this.
And this is no exception. According to the descriptions, I can see myself fitting into parts of the last three - and none entirely describe my personality.
I think the problem that exists with boxes is that you run the danger of restricting people. That, because they fit in one box, means that they can't have the attributes that make up another of the boxes.
Personally, I like to think of the boxes 'overlapping' like a venn diagram - but I'm not sure if this is how it's intended or not.
But, that's just me opinion - and could be completely wrong.

yep it is well known that personality typing is not perfect nor complete. It is not about boxing people in, it is about trying to understand people better.
In this personality typing everyone will have elements of all 4 catagories. Some will lean to 1 or 2 very strongly while others will be have a greater mix.
So myself am strongest in the choleric and 2nd strongest in the sequine.

Hate to be a bit of a melancholy here, but this particular personality typing has come from astrology (seasons dictating physiology dictating personality), and some fanatical Christians perceive it to be evil and dangerous. Just letting you know ;)

im definately the last one infact it should be renamed to Craig

I'm mostly phlegmatic and melancholic.
I think it has more links with the Greek idea of the four elements than it does with astrology, but it's true that some Christians reckon it's a bit too New Agey.

switch it's not about boxing people but understanding people better so that we don't try to force people to be more like us but just accept them for who they are.
steff i didn't think that it came from astrology but from some guy who was studying people. the phlagmatics had lots of phlem the saquines were known to bleed and all that type of stuff. could be what christop said tho...

If a model, diagram or picture is helpful in understanding people I don't think we need to get too hung up on where it originated as long as we don't use the model obsessively or use it to hit on people.
We all use knives and folks (well, most of us do!) and we don't sit around questioning the spiritual values of those who invented them.

I think I am mainly choleric.
My natural personality is choleric. I love to lead. I focus on results, tasks, getting the job done. I am ambitious and a go-getter.
However, due to my work nature, I may appear to many people as melancholy. I am involved in sales and consulting.
