the little things...
its the little things that get in the way and that people resist when change comes along.
the big things are exciting. they can be embraced and people want to get on board. but the little things... often these are put off and resisted and hard to get people to do.
one example of this lately that i have experienced are forms... getting people to fill out forms and hand them in. hard. no one wants to do a form but they want to be part of the thing that filling out the form is for.
we can miss out on the big things cos of resistance to the little things. when we are trusted with the little then we can be entrusted with more.
even with other little things in life i tend to treat them with a not so good attitude. the things of everyday such as cooking, cleanning and other such things are treated with no passion in many instances, just done on auto pilot. in doing this do we miss out on oportunities? on growth?
the big things we have no problem with. they are embraced, shared, talked about and get others catch the vision. if we do this with the other little things and share them with God, share with God in the little things with others.
can we find God in the little things as easy. is that becasue we don't feel like we need God in the little things. we can do these in our own stregth, in our own time and without God, without others. they're boring and we can't share these times?
it's not just the things of everyday but also anything else that's small. planning instead of implemetation, learning instead of teaching. anything considered to be small. these are not as readily shared or embraced.
we can in everything, experience God and share God. the big things may be easier and may be more exciting but God is in it all.

Yes! People don't place very much importance on anything that isn't glamourous or fun to do. With the forms, I think it's just laziness - they really only take a few minutes. It really bugs me when people are too lazy to put in the effort for the little things, because it does effect the outcome of the big things. If people don't work hard at the small pieces that bring it all together, you can't reach the goal. I know a few leaders who are great at envisioning a new fantastic goal and what all the parts are going to be. They can see all the bricks, all the 'vision', and that gets them excited... but if it weren't for the 'little people' working with the mortar, doing all the groundwork for them, they couldn't build their structure.
I think I'm a little person; I'm much better at small things than big things.

I agree. It's really interesting, because you often hear about a 'vision' and then everyone sort of gets hyped up about it, and then there are other people (not the 'visionary') which get excited and start doing the little things, while this 'visionary' ensure that all the little things end up to create the original vision.
The big things ARE exciting! But the little things must be done.
Building a house is exciting, but laying the foundation, is not so exciting.
I agree with Steff here, forms only really do take a couple of minutes to fill in - and everyone has that sort of time at least once a day! It is sheer laziness.
The need to fill out forms won't go away.
Kind of reminds me of something said to me once:
"Pay now, play later - play now, pay later"

The problem I find with forms, or assignments even, is that there is one little thing I don't understand and so I put it off until its too late!

yup and if we don't do the little things we can't do the big things.
the little things make the big things worthwhile, make the big things big.

in everything we can give all we have got to give if we have the right attitude.

I'm told I put too much into the little things... that the little things shouldn't consume my life so much... Yet here people seem to concur that the little things shape the direction of your efforts, your character, even your life.
Hands up if you're one of the people who have ever told me off for this before? :P
