Before Reg Ansett started up Ansett Australia, he had a business of driving cars between Hamilton and Melbourne. But the Vic govt made it illegal for people to compete commercially with Victorian Rail (the former VLine - VR used to be a massive empire in those days!). So, Reggie starting selling oranges ... for about $100 each... its just he included a free trip to Melbourne :P

When that's the price that you would've paid anywhere, the the fact you got the mints really is a bonus.
If you look at the fact you have $600 mints, then you got your car fixed and serviced for free.
If you are unhappy at paying $600 for the mints, but think the service and repair was worth the money - then you got a free packet of mints.
Personally, I think anything given for 'free' is a bonus, regardless of what you paid for the item or service.
Whether you went to that business or another, the same service they provided would probably equal the same dollar amount (for arguments sake anyway), but at one you got free mints. Now, subtract the cost of the mints from the service, and it's like getting it slightly cheaper ;-) :-P
Ahh...what a rant

Not many of us enjoying spending money on our car...we don't see a lot of tangile benefit for it.
But it sure beats walking.
(not that there's anything wrong with walking)

Dad gets a flower every time he has his car serviced.

I've had to get my car fixed twice last year, and got no other bonuses. But both times were insurance claims.
